Humility, reflection, identity, responsibility, emotional maturity, learning from experience, and becoming more capable without becoming more certain of yourself.
The 42 Principles apply inward as often as they apply to systems. They ask the reader to examine assumptions, motives, habits, fears, promises, reputation, and the stories we tell ourselves about what we know.
Growth is not presented as constant self-optimization. It is a willingness to learn, accept correction, take responsibility, make better choices, and remain curious about who we may still become.
Self-awareness also limits ego. Experience should improve judgment without convincing us that experience has made us incapable of being wrong.
